Morgan Vien

Minister of Magic, Wherever I go

As a leader + designer, Morgan brings catalytic energy to her work. As a creative and visionary leader, she hosts opportunities for people to gather in discovery and design so that they can navigate complexity. Using emergent and liberatory practices, she pays close attention to what people need in order to step into their power and exercise radical imagination in making sustainable change. Morgan believes that change is fractal – how we are 1:1 is how we are within larger systems.

Outside of Design for Emergence, Morgan is a designer with the Stanford d.school on the Futures Project and Liberatory Design Faculty at the National Equity Project. Previously, she coached and designed with the Teachers Guild x School Retool at IDEO, served as a Deeper Learning Coach with Envision Learning Partners, and incubated ideas with the Mira Fellowship. Morgan has also served as principal of an arts-integration, expeditionary learning school, was a founding teacher in Oakland’s New Small Autonomous Schools movement, and currently is a member of the board of trustees at Design Tech High School.

Morgan is deeply grateful for all of the people who came before her in this work and who have taught her so much. She is also grateful for the people with whom she learns and designs today. She is most grateful for the people who will make magic in the future.
