CO-FOUNDER OF DESIGN FOR EMERGENCE
Designer + Servant Leader + Radical Collaborator
@ d.school at Stanford and IDEO
ResolvED, Founder
I am a leader, designer, and strategist.
When I am in “the pocket,” there is deep listening and honoring of perspectives in designing and strategizing ways to seed and spread change - and light. My goal is to be tender with people and ungraciously disruptive to systems that oppress and hinder BIPOC’s liberation.
I am an empathic leader who designs and hosts spaces where people activate joy and learning. I catalyze radical collaboration in the service of liberation.
My leadership is like Bob Moses because I seek participatory methods to seed and spread radical change, one community at a time. (Also, the image of a brilliant and humble man wearing overalls as he walks door-to-door registering voters speaks to another value I want to embody: courage, leonine,.)
My background is in school reform. My career has run the gamut: from Teach For America as an elementary teacher to New Leaders for New Schools as a high school assistant principal. I have worked as a coach, curriculum writer, and trainer for the last several years with the TG x SR at IDEO and the d.school at Stanford.
Right now, I am hyped about learning more about self-organizing teams and collaborative decision-making. I am also seriously hyped on Taylor Johnson’s poem “Rigorous Listening'' since I think rigorous listening is the key to being a great designer.
